Do i need a permit or something to go snorkeling?
Some friends and I were thinking of going snorkeling in Florida, but we are unsure if we need a permit of some kind or any qualification. We all know how to swim very well so that is not an issue. Also, are we allowed to carry a diving knife?
You don't need any certification or permit to snorkel. You MAY need a park permit if the place you intend to snorkel requires it and it's in a area designated a State or Federal park. Yup, take your dive knife if you'd like but don't go poking critters with it or prying off hunks of coral. That's just not cool. Knives are for cutting fishing line or something that's got you tangled up, not for hunting or taking souveniers.
